ooc guidelines.

i. Rudeness, criticism, or otherwise unsightly behavior ooc will not be tolerated. We ask of our members to treat each other as they would like to be treated. In other words, we require that our members offer hospitality to all other members, no matter what their history. Teasing here and there is alright, but excessively doing it to a point where it hurts another members in some way is not OK. We'd like all of our members to act like grown adults, not squabbling siblings.

ii. Backseat-moderating isn't OK. Backseat-moderating is basically the same as when you'd "drive from the backseat" in your parents' car; you pester others into doing something, tell them to fix something, or even constantly correct them. This is the job of our moderators and we would appreciate it if our members refrain from doing the job of our hired. Click that 'REPORT' button next to a post if you feel it is in violation of our terms.

iii. All posts must not go above the PG-Thirteen rating. A bit of kissing here and there, intimate conversations, etc are allowed. However, we do not want detailed gore or sexual interactions to come about in a post. This is not only in violation of our terms, but it is in violation of our forum hoster's terms, JCink. On that note, we'd appreciate it very much if you could keep any sort of pornography, detailed gore, and etc off of the forums.

iv. Display-names are required to be entered in all capitals & with the character's first/last name. Believe me, the staff will pester you until you change it. They won't go all-out jerk on you for it, but it is in violation of our terms. It isn't that hard to use the caps lock or hold shift when entering your name. It also lets us know you read our rules and will abide by them. Sure, you may have forgotten to do it at the register screen but that doesn't mean you can't do it once you've already signed up! Also, we'd like an account for out-of-character posting to be signed up before anything else; it should use your alias, nothing more. All usernames should not contain any graphic language or numbers; keep it clean, people. We'd also like for our members to enter character names like "TOM K. CLANCY" not "CLANCY, TOM" or anything of that like.

v. Refrain from double-posting. Not only is it ugly and terribly childish-looking, but double-posting also clutters the forum with unnecessary posts. We want to keep our business looking nice and professional, don't we? You want that too, I presume. Well, you can help-out by editing a post when you want to add something on and reporting duplicate posts by the same author.

in-character.

i. Content posted on the forums should be of a PG-Thirteen rating or below. As mentioned once before in the general guidelines, all content posted on the forum should be of a PG-Thirteen rating or below. Grossly detailed gore, sexual activities, etc should not be posted and will be censored by a staff member as soon as it is seen. A warning will also be issued to the member who posted it.

ii. All posts in-character must be at least a healthy paragraph. There is no set-limit to how long a mass of text must be to be considered a paragraph however, we consider five sentences to be a paragraph here. Note that these sentences must be both grammatically correct (to a point of basic literacy) and must be full sentences. Reading a post that uses incorrect grammar and bad sentence formation makes it both difficult and ugly.

iii. Basic literacy is required here. We expect our users to be able to post with a basic level of literacy. None of us will ever have a perfectly grammatical post the first time we try to write it up; if you must, you can revise your post by using the 'EDIT' button next to it. Also, we'd appreciate it if you could use a grammar checker if you can't seem to grasp basic grammar and spelling.

iv. Purple prose is not appreciated here. It can be stunning, sure. But it also can be annoying after more than one small paragraph. Most of the words used in purple prose aren't even known by the general public, making for our members to have to search in a dictionary what the words mean, at times. It is a much longer road to understanding what a post is supposed to say, mean, and more if it is written in the purple prose format. It can also take away from the experience for reasons stated above. Therefore, posting in the purple prose format is not allow here and is in violation of our terms.

character guidelines.

i. Personality field must equal at least 250 words. While it may seem like a lot, it really isn't. We want our character's biographies to be able to paint a scenario of what the character will be like. Saying your character is "funny, brave, cool" is generic and thus will generally give readers a bland, generic, and unformed picture of your character.

ii. History field must equal at least 250 words. Obviously, something had to have happened to your character in the past. It can't all be a sob-story, either. Abandonment and sad histories are becoming all too generic within the role-playing community. I'd suggest to stay away from sad/bad histories and go for something less generic.

iii. If your character is plagued by some mental-condition or medical-condition, include a detailed description of it and the affects on your character. This is important to help better the understanding of your character and how other characters might react.

iv. Detailed appearance is required if a picture is not included. Again, we want the biography to paint a picture of how your character is and how they will behave, look, etc. The minimum for this field is 100 words.
